“What?” I asked.
“That happiness does not always come after a great victory or a long war,” he said. “Sometimes happiness is as simple as this seeing you laugh, hearing our child breathe, and knowing we are still here.”
I looked at him for a long time, then nodded. “Let this simple happiness last a long time.”
“Forever,” Liam answered with certainty.
