Shadows began to emerge from behind the jagged rocks, figures moving with surprising speed despite the terrain.
The first one appeared, a hulking, armored figure, its skin- well, there was no skin. It wore a headdress of twisted bone, and its eyes glowed with a malicious light. More followed, each one larger and more grotesque than the last—hulking figures that seemed as though they had been born and molded from the desert itself. Sand and dust clung to them like skin and a second layer of armor.
The leader of the sand people, a creature with a towering frame and a spiked club in hand, let out a guttural growl. Its lips curled back in a feral sneer.
