The fire hissed and spat, the smoke curling upward in thin spirals that didn’t move with the wind. Her sisters moved in opposite directions, tracing a wide circle around the fire with chalky white ash. It wasn’t normal ash, it glittered faintly when the light hit it, like powdered bone.
