It was unnamed. I bit my lip, dragged in a deep breath, and finally pressed the call button. "Hello?" the deep baritone voice that echoed at the other end of the line almost made me jump. "H-hello?" I echoed hesitantly. "Camilla?" he muttered. "Yes, it's me," I nodded even though he obviously couldn't see me. "I need help," my voice cracked. I can't afford to beat around the bush. Every second counts. "I know," he answered. "Nana Luisa already explained your situation."

Her voice sounded unusually sweet and affectionate—way too affectionate for my liking. She kept using pet names like "sweetheart" and "baby," her tone filled with warmth and happiness. I felt my heart drop but I maintained a smiling face. The last thing I wanted was to deal with some crazy ex because she looked very crazy to me. She had heard some gossip, thinking it might divert my attention from the suffocating weight that enveloped me. She read nervously, "Camila, are you okay?" Eduardo asked while she looked up abruptly nodding her head while scratching her neck. "Maybe she's cooking something." Crockett replied dropping his phone noisily on the table and crossing his chubby legs, "Camila is a master at cooking surprises."
