Taranis’s hand shot out instinctively…and ended up gripping mine.
I froze, staring at his hand in shock. “Uh…you didn’t need to do that.”
“Didn’t need to?” he said, eyes wide. “Hazelnut, the ghost was right there! That was instinct.”
I felt my face heating up, part embarrassment, part…something else.
One after another, the movie delivered exactly what it promised. Shadows moved, doors slammed, voices whispered unintelligibly. Each time, I shrieked. Taranis flinched right along with me, though he tried to act composed.
