The phone rang at exactly midnight. I was in the nursery, rocking Theodore back to sleep after a late feeding, when I heard the sound. A sharp and jarring ring that cut through the quiet of the apartment like a blade. By the time I reached the kitchen, Devin was already there, his hand hovering over the phone and Mark on the line with the trace team. "Answer it," I whispered. "But be careful what you say." Devin picked up the phone and put it on speaker. "Hello," he said.

I guess he is more scared of me than he is of his lunatic father. "Hope the news you heard pleased you," I teased him while watching his reaction. He kept looking from me to Sergio. I was enjoying the drama when my phone rang, distracting me from the funny show I was watching. I grabbed my phone from the table and held it for a few seconds while it continued to ring.
