The silence in the armored SUV pressed against my ears like water. I sat in the back seat, spine rigid, hands folded in my lap. The red silk dress felt wrong now. Too bright. Too exposed. My bare back was cold against the leather. Volkov drove. One hand on the wheel. The other resting near the gun I knew was holstered beneath his jacket. He hadn't spoken since pulling me off the dance floor. Hadn't looked at me. The highway was empty. Dark trees blurred past the windows. No other cars. Just us and the road.

Because Kael had been Silvain's second and the pack's protector and Marina's most consistent adversary within Bloodfang and it seemed right to take the position that acknowledged all three of those things simultaneously. Silvain stood at the front. He did not use notes. He had apparently prepared in the two and a half days of travel, which meant he had been thinking about this for longer than two and a half days. He spoke about Kael the way he spoke about things that mattered, plainly and without performance.

On the second morning, he met Silas Draven. Emeric's head of security was built like someone who had been constructed for a specific purpose and had never deviated from it. Broad shoulders, close-cropped hair, and eyes that moved across a room the way searchlights move across a prison yard. He intercepted Tobin in the hallway outside the guest wing with a smile that contained approximately the same amount of warmth as a surgical blade. "You're the collateral," Silas said, and the word landed like a label being pressed onto a jar.

Isaac said seductively, causing me to cringe. Hayden's shoulders shook with silent laughter, and I struggled to hold back my own laughter as I looked at him. He clicked the VideoChat icon in the corner but kept the camera turned off. Soon, Isaac's face appeared on the screen. A smirk appeared on Isaac's face as he switched to his back camera, aiming it at his exposed erection. He gave it a pump, groaning, while Hayden flipped over and buried his face in my chest, laughing quietly. Despite the awkwardness of the situation, I couldn't help but join in the laughter.

They giggled and whispered. Silas walked up onto the stage and stood in front of all of them with his hands placed on his hips. He cleared his throat. All of them immediately stopped talking and all eyes were on him. Power radiated off of him and his voice was loud and clear as he spoke out to them, "We have a visitor."

Kayson answered. Silvan was speechless before he replied drily, “That’s… my younger cousin. My parents aren’t exactly big among the Killicks. While I’m a Killick, I’m not like a core family member.” Kayson chuckled. “So you want to achieve something and go further to gain the Killicks’ acknowledgment?” Silvan was astonished. “You can see this too?” “You wear your impatience and eagerness to earn merit on your sleeve,” Kayson answered.

Martha definitely deserves that vacation though. I almost fell asleep standing up in the shower, but managed to stay awake long enough to clean myself and not die from smoke inhalation from the steam coming off of the hot water that massaged my muscles. Wrapping my hair in a towel after drying myself off, I rummaged through my suitcase for something decent to wear. My hands landed on a piece of dark magenta silk fabric. I pulled it out and revealed a single shoulder strap dress with a high thigh slit in it. The neckline went down deep enough to provide just the right amount of cleavage while not parading my tits around and the back was open. Overall, I really liked this dress since the color

I wave at her as I rush out of the kitchen before she asks me to spend time with her another day. I normally find the gym empty when I come down, but today Santino is around, and he is lifting some weights, as if he even needs to. His body is already in perfect shape, and the weights must weigh like paper to him. Besides that, he does look hot in black gym shorts and a black vest that shows off the large muscles on his arms. She only wanted to win it because if she did , she would be able to live free from the claws of her greedy mother , brother and father .
