Xavier’s thrusts grew faster, deeper, ignoring the fact that Maximilian began to knock louder on the door. "Elara? Why is it taking so long? I heard something fall in there!" Maximilian shouted from outside. That voice only drove Xavier more insane. He fused their bodies tighter, every movement becoming a proclamation of power. Elara lost her ability to think clearly. The sound of her own heartbeat clashed with the sound of skin meeting skin in the sweltering room.

The car picked up speed, leaving the bustle of the city behind. Max gripped the steering wheel tightly, then added, “I’ll always stand with you, Sir. No matter what happens.” “I know, Max. That’s why I can sit calmly right now. You and Liora are the only reasons I’m not tempted to get rid of Damien tonight.” Max exhaled, caught between relief and caution. He knew all too well: if Xavier truly unleashed his anger, no one could stop him. In the back seat, Xavier closed his eyes for a moment, letting his mind fill with strategies.

I know I’m not the only one sagging under the heat and the weight of missing my mate. There’s a quiet, sharp intake of breath beside me. I turn my head and see Xander sitting forward, his hand pressed over his chest. “You okay, man?” I keep my voice low. “Is it Atlas?” He shakes his head, brow furrowed. “I don’t know. I feel weird. Really hot, and my chest is tight.” Before I can say more, Max jolts. He shoots to his feet like someone stuck a live wire in him, then drops straight to his knees with a grunt.

In his hand was a trash bag. I was about to say hello when my eyes caught the figure above his head. My smile froze. There, glowing in vivid red, was the number: 1,111. The worst part was that it was still fluctuating. My blood ran cold. That was pure bloodlust. It was a raw, undisguised intent to kill. I had never seen such a high value before. I once came across a creep on the subway at 300, and I thought that was bad.

The large lonely mansion which oozed nothing but affluence did not only house these money making halls but also had rooms above which caged workers who made this money and the bosses who ruled over them. The workers were members of X-habit, a crime conglomerate whose activities were no lesser than running guns, doing drugs and the like. The Big Four: Steven Chase, Baron Sage, Iphan Carter and Kane Richmond bossed over the conglomerate, with Steven as the head, more of a Godfather.

All eyes were glued on the screen as soon as Max hit send. We waited for a good minute, and nothing happened. Just when people began to whisper, a reply came in.
