Another hooded figure stood there speaking to Vane. “Make sure the hybrid dies,” the figure said coldly, with an authority that sounded painfully familiar. As the hooded figure moved, light shone on their hand. Around one finger was a gold ring engraved with a symbol I recognised instantly: Emerald Earth Pack. It was an Elder’s ring. My thoughts immediately went back to the photograph I had shown Caspian. A picture of Elder Ruth meeting a sorcerer in the middle of the fog. The vision ended with a violent jolt. I gasped for air as I returned to the cold pine forest, while Dorian sat weakly on the ground clutching his burned neck.

He flicked his sleeve and a gleaming object flew out from within. The object was the size of an ink slab at first but by the time it reached Xiao Chen, it became as large as a lower millstone. It turned nonstop while radiating a cold and eerie glow. It was incredibly unpleasant to the eyes. Xiao Chen reached out and caught the object between his fingers with a clanging sound. So the object was a Life-exterminating Ring. The leader immediately turned pale. He desperately cast spells and incantations but the magic treasure that he had refined for more than 10 years appeared stuck to Xiao Chen's hand.
