We are leaving for Chicago; the game is on. Ellie sits close to me on the plane, and we have one of our normal funny chats, about work, people, politics, etc. We always have these sorts of inside-jokes, easy conversations. Before I knew it, Ellie got on her tip-toes and wrapped her arms around me. I quickly hugged her back, sniffing her hair and holding her. I stuck my tongue out at River. *So childish,* River said, over mind-link. *Jealous and you know it,* I said back.

Why hasn’t she come up yet? And then she’s there, coughing and spluttering, and my feet are running to her. One of the twin fuckers is clinging to her as she struggles to breathe and a murderous rage overcomes me. A ferocious roar leaves my lips as I splash through the shallows until I’m forced to dive in and swim. “Ellie!” Her body is limp when I rip her away from him and start swimming to shore. “I’ve got you, little one. You’re okay.”

I told you time bomb. She refuses to get off me even after dinner and I have to let the boys 'shower' themselves since they claimed they are big boys. Ellie loves showers because she can play with water as much as she likes. Thirty minutes later, I walk into the boy's room and find both of them asleep. Pearl has his Spiderman pajama on while Dannie has his captain America pajamas on. I peck their foreheads before switching off their lights and walk to my room. Ellie is still playing with her toy when Miles calls. He is surprised that she is not asleep yet, because Ellie sleeps earlier than Dannie. We talk with Miles for more than two hours and what I know next is I'm woken up with screaming
