My right hand was numb, but my left arm—the necrotic monument—vibrated with a low-frequency hum as it neared the Nightfall tech. Ryan stood in the center of the road. He wore a crisp, charcoal-gray tactical trench coat, looking less like a werewolf and more like an auditor of a dying species. "You’re late, Phoenix," Ryan said. His voice was smooth, devoid of the warmth I had relied on in New York. "The resonance spike from the nursery just hit the Alliance’s main frame. The Council has already issued the Red Notice. If I don't initiate the 14-B transfer now, this entire sector becomes a free-fire zone."

I thought they would break any second. “Let her go.” A long, slender hand shot out and seized Nate’s wrist. The one grip made Nate’s expression shift instantly. As soon as my arm was freed, I quickly stepped back, putting distance between us. Then, I looked up and met a pair of amber eyes. The man wore a sharp knight’s uniform, with a silver-patterned quiver slung across his shoulder. The feathers of his silver-tipped arrows glimmered under the chandelier. It was Elliot, the legendary warrior who, according to rumors, had been living deep in the Dark Forest.

Site inspections to be scheduled. Professional. Controlled. As we prepare to leave, Rayner’s phone buzzes. He glances at the screen. “Excuse me.” He steps out to take the call. And suddenly, I am alone. Alone with Nathan. He gives Elliot brief instructions to get the car ready. Elliot nods and exits. Then Nathan turns to me. His face hardens. “What do you think you’re doing, Amara?” “Working,” I reply evenly. He steps closer, gripping my wrist suddenly.

Liam lifted his head. Noah stood near the doorway, arms folded, eyes sharp with judgment he didn’t bother hiding. “You look like hell,” Noah said. “Something happen?” Liam didn’t answer immediately. He stared at the empty glass on the coffee table. “I saw her.” Noah didn’t need clarification. “Elara?” Liam nodded. “And?” Noah asked carefully. “I—” Liam swallowed, suddenly feeling the weight of his own words. “She was working at Eclipse Noir. As a server. In a VIP room.”

Elliot paused, his eyes fixed on the space beside me, with the new claw marks, but it felt like he couldn’t see it because his expression remained the same. “We've secured five of the traffickers alive. They'll be held for your questioning.” “You took some alive?” I let out after what seemed like forever. “Several would argue you’re getting soft Elliot.” I was baiting him, and I waited to see if he was going to bite. He didn't. All he did was stand still. As usual. “There's another matter.” He said flatly. “The omega. Her name is Raziela.” He hesitated, then added, “And the child.”

“Alright, keep your secrets. But there’s a high-class party tonight at The Eclipse. The party is giving anonymous vibes, rich people, sugar daddies and mommies looking for arm candy. You should come. One good connection and you could clear some of that debt, man. Raymond’s not playing around.” My stomach twisted at Raymond’s name. Forty-seven grand breathing down my neck. I thought about Elliot’s cold dismissals mixed with the way he held me after breeding me senseless. Hope and reality crashed hard. “Maybe,” I muttered. “I’ll think about it.” But later that evening, with another debt text buzzing on my phone, I decided to fuck it. And attend. Elliot knocked on the door and went in. It was late at night and Etan was still working. In the ashtray at hand were a pile of cigarette butts. A strong smell of tobacco permeated the air. Elliot respectfully said, "Miss Mitchell may be in North Harbor now!" Etan didn't look up and he just responded indifferently, "Find her before dawn. If you can't find her, you won't need to see me again." North Harbor’s situation was very chaotic. Though it was the port in Cornview, now cargo ships were hardly loaded and started from here.

“Hi, I’m Zayn Barnes. May I know who I’m talking to?” “Hi, Mr. Barnes! I’m Ninian Winters, the actress who plays Elliot White in ‘In Full Bloom’.” The girl’s melodious voice came from the phone. As if she was slightly nervous, her tone was light and gentle, and she sounded like a lady in the palace. “Ms. Ninian? Hi!” There was an appropriate hint of surprise in Zayn’s voice. “Is there anything that I can help you with?” “I’m sorry for disturbing you. Everett applied for a two-day leave after helping me, so I’m a bit worried.” Ninian’s voice was filled with cautiousness, and she asked, “May I ask about his condition now?”

Her eyes followed the illustrations he made. “These are the men you’re gonna meet, over here is Dust, this is Dino, an underdog of a man(unknown) we don’t know who is working for yet, the man that wants you, I don’t think he wants you dead, else you would’ve been killed.” Eve listened as he explain, the name of Dust making her stomach churn. “I didn’t have a nightmare last night.” She thought out loud. “I didn’t see heard his laughter or feel his hands around my neck. How come? Why?” Wesley dropped his pen and watched her.

“How is it that she isn’t back yet?” Ayla went to the Master Ray’s manor to celebrate Estée’s birthday with her, but instead found out that her friend still hadn’t come back from a mission in a Eastern Europe city from a week ago. Just like the 10th Master’s people were usually tasked with healing the living people, Master Ray’s people were often the ones who set free the souls of the dying humans. It was one of the duties that took more time, but thanks to the rotation system no one would ever be gone for so many days. No matter what, it was weird, especially taken into account that new Celestial Guardians wouldn’t be sent to long or difficult assignments.
