The "red" energy was no longer a fire in my veins; it was a steady, humming baseline, like the low notes of a cello played deep in the earth.

However, it was enough for them to understand the depths of my gratitude. Papa handed me a small wooden box that had a matching ring to the one they both wore. It had a silver gemstone that had an undeniable current when you ran your finger over it. “This is a Cistunite stone, Aedrul’s version of silver that won’t harm us. It is also known for its property of focusing. It can focus the mind, the body, and even magic. The lesser-known property is that it is also a conduit. Your grandfather gave ours to us when we were coronated alongside your mother,” Dad explained.

It supposed to help with decision making and deciphering emotion, if you believe in that sort of thing.” Isadora slipped it onto her wrist, admiring the swirls that cut through each bead. “I love it.” “So,” Evelyn said, getting back on topic. “Lucian seemed pretty frazzled after he got home from your house.” She snickered. “You didn’t tell him anything, did you?”

She didn't really understand what the seer was saying. The seer’s eyes seemed to see straight through her. And this time, like she saw Mia's confusion, she dropped her voice, low and steady. “The Junajuz Stone. Child, it will be activated. It will release your protection spell, and nothing can stop its power—not even now. Except for one rare thing.” She leaned closer to Mia, her breath slightly brushing Mia's face. “You’ll need the hair of twins. Twins born from a Lupinarian mother.”

Aurora’s POV “I never expected I would see this happen in my lifetime,” Elder Miriam stood, picking up the caramel coloured stone. My lips quivered. I forced myself to ask with a hoarse voice, “Elder, what do you mean? What is wrong with my son? Asher shifted by my side, pressing his body against me. Elder Miriam raised the stone to me, saying, “This is a stone I caught from a large canyon. A gemstone of immense quality. Very high pure energy.”

I'm standing over her little frame while Goliath looks down into the eyes of Gem. Her body stills underneath me, taking me in. Emerald's breathing is raging; the fear and hurt in her eyes send a whimper straight out of me. Goliath nudges his nose along her cheek, trying to show affection toward her. Wanting her to see that we do care for her, that we love her. That we need her to calm down before something happens to her, to the babies.

This feels different and more serious. “Look what I found,” Evelyn said, holding out the glowing purple pebble. John’s eyes widened as he took it. “This… this is used to trap a vengeful spirit. And it’s glowing like this because…” “Did we just disturb it?” Solomon cut in, his voice shaky.
