Mystrel nodded and glanced around. "Did you happen to find an enameled necklace anywhere," he asked the red eyed man. The rogue reached into his pocket and pulled out my fucking necklace. "As a matter of fact, I found this on the floor in front of my door in the caverns, like your misses was snooping around," he growled menacingly and dropped the necklace into Mystrel's opened hand. I swallowed uncomfortably and slowly made my way back into the forest. I headed towards Ash's tree house not certain of what to do. I pounded on his door. He opened the door and looked around. I forgot I was still invisible and made myself appear slowly before him. His eye widened in shock and he smiled.

He only took a cursory glance at me and continued moving. “Don't worry about that, young lady, he just had to take this route,” the gentleman beside me smiled as he turned to look at me. “By the way, how much do you have in that little bag of yours?” “Wait… What? What business of yours is that?” I asked in shock, clutching my bag quickly. That was when it struck me. The man was no cab driver. The mark on the hand of the guy beside me told me all that I needed to know. They were Rogues!

Like the land was holding its breath. By the time she reached the central hut, a small crowd had gathered. Whispers. Fear. Confusion. Seraphina pushed through them. On the ground inside lay a man she did not recognize. That alone was rare. Strangers did not wander into the Rogue Lands unless they were fleeing something worse—or bringing it with them. He was tall, cloaked, his face partially hidden. But it was not his appearance that made Seraphina freeze. It was the symbol burned into his armor.

He was huge, with long dark hair and tattoos that covered his chest like war paint. He walked toward me. I tried to scramble back, but I was too weak. He stopped in front of me. He looked at my burns. He looked at the blood between my legs. He sniffed the air. "You smell like a Luna," the stranger said. His voice was rough, like gravel grinding together. "But you look like a corpse." "Help me," I whispered. "Help isn't free," the Rogue said. He knelt down. He reached out and touched the golden collar that was still locked around my neck. The metal was blackened by the fire, but the padlock held strong.

Well, Neve was itching to see if Helma could cure a host of incurable diseases on her own. "Hey there, miss," came a smooth male voice from behind her. Neve jumped, spinning around to face a guy with a mischievous grin. "You, who are you?" He leaned in close, his breath tickling her ear. "Who am I? The name's Heartless Rogue, at your service, from the notorious Emeraldshade." A flicker of recognition crossed Neve's mind. "You're one of the big four bosses, right? Are you here on some secret mission? I'm sure there was one you were supposed to handle!"

Hunt untied the rope from around my hands and once they were free, I rubbed the red rings around my wrists. "So can I leave?" I stood up and as I tried to move around him to get to the door, he caught my wrist and pulled me back. "I can't let you leave." "Why not?" My voice was laced with annoyance. "I did not do anything wrong." "Unfortunately I make a lot of decisions but my pack won't like knowing that we have a rogue on our hands and I'm about to let her loose, especially with all the attacks going around. For all we know," Hunt stepped closer. "You could be the wild rogue just trying to talk yourself out of a sticky situation."

Griffin smiled gently and said, "See? I didn’t lie to you." Emerald looked down at the man who was now sitting on the ground, his eyes full of sincerity. "Little fox," he continued, "I’m a doctor and your brother. What are you afraid of? Let me take a look." Yes, he was a doctor. Emerald raised her foot, ready to remove her shoe, but before she could, the man gently grabbed her ankle. His touch was cool compared to Alaric's, and his fingers were smooth. His gaze lingered on her anklet. "It’s very beautiful."

They entered of the cellars, there was the rogue they've caught yesterday, tied up with metal chains by the walls, he was all blooded and disfigured, couldn't even stand properly, his legs were too weak as he weakly stood by the support of the chains, his head lowered to the ground and blood was dripping from his mouth. *Ember* As I stared into the amber eyes of the strange man, I felt pinned by his gaze. “Thank you, but I’m not lost,” I lied, falling back on the manners that had carried me through my time in the court of the Silver Crescent and offering the stranger a bob of my head befitting for a female of my station. The first rogue jumped. Its teeth snapped just inches from my arm. I twisted, hitting the ground hard. My shoulder burned. The beast jumped again. Then—something moved. A crash. A snarl. The rogue flew into a tree. A man stood there. Tall. Strong. Silver eyes flashing in the dark. His chest moved fast. His knuckles were bloody—but not his own.
