Emily burst into tears. “Calm down, Mom and Dad will be there right away, calm down.” A girl passed by the emergency room, and saw Emily crying and trembling, so she stopped and helped her onto the bench to wait and comfort her. Waiting for her to calm down, the girl left. A minute passed that felt like a day to Emily, her eyes kept staring at the door, waiting for the doctor to call her. The moment she heard the doctor inform her that her husband had suffered a stomach hemorrhage and was so excited that he lost consciousness and was not in danger of his life, she stopped trembling.

I sigh as I throw my leg over his. He curls his lip in disgust. You have to be a special kind of person to work in ER. Cam and I are not those people. I mean, it’s good in some ways. The experience is invaluable, but it’s hectic and you never know what the hell is going to happen on your shift. Many people were unconscious and in a coma, as they lay on the ground.

"I need more blood over here! Type O negative, stat!" The emergency room was chaos. Bodies everywhere. Nurses running between gurneys. Doctors shouting orders. The smell of blood and fear thick in the air. I'd been working for six hours straight without a break and we still had patients waiting for treatment. I finished suturing a deep laceration on a young woman's leg and moved immediately to the next patient. A man in his fifties with a collapsed lung. I could see it immediately, the way his chest moved wrong, the bluish tint to his lips.

Of course, I have every reason to worry about both of them. I don't know what Damon is doing or planning right now. I don't know when Gabriel will wake up. I don't know who exactly this evil guy is and what he might be planning now. "Doctor! There's an emergency patient at the ER that you need to look at."
