Emma continues. “I have lived my life as a trapped creature,” Emma says. “And what I want now – now that I’m free of that cage – is not to run.” She falls silent, shaking her head for a minute, looking down. But Evelyn quietly notices that her fingers are tipped with claws, gripping the bedsheets as she looks up again, fire in her eyes. “What I want,” Emma says, her voice lethally calm. “Is revenge.” A beat passes, and then a slow, dark smile forms on Evelyn’s mouth.

Ema said quietly as she faded into the flow of the city. "Because when I'm done," she said with a stiff upper lip, "you'll wish you'd never left the comparative safety of the pack." That was the promise in her thoughts, and with it, Ema vanished in the crowd, one anonymous among many. But, unlike the naïve people around her, she acted with precise aim, with a burning desire for vengeance that would transform everything as it was known. The war was on, and Ema would not stop or pause until he had Amelia's head for all the indignity, failure, and humiliation she had caused him.

I groaned and tiredly went back to the waiting area. "Cassy, why are you here?" I looked up when I heard a familiar voice and let out a relieved sigh when I saw Adrian. "Good afternoon, sir." The receptionist greeted him. "Why she's here and not at the CEO's office?" "She doesn't have an appointment, sir." The woman reasoned out. "Did you inform Mr. Romero of her arrival?" "No, sir, because Mr. Romero didn't tell me he is expecting a woman named Cassandra Revira." Adrian groaned.

Ashley grabbed a glass of cocktail from a waiter and raised it to the air before drowning it all in his throat. “Also, we have a very special somebody in our midst. Give it up for the newest member of the Crescent Moon Pack, Amanda Martinez,” he added. I wanted to run away and leave him hanging, but luck wasn’t on my side. The lighting engineer had pushed the spotlight towards me, identifying me as the newest member.

“Noted. I’ll need that survival guide.” As we talked, I noticed a girl with sleek blonde hair walking toward our table. She carried herself with the kind of confidence I could only dream of—easy, graceful, like she belonged in every room she entered. She dropped her tray beside Connor and gave him a look that said she knew him well. “Hey, stranger,” she said. “You didn’t tell me we had a new lunch guest.” Connor smiled faintly. “Emma, this is my sister, Chelsea. Chelsea, this is Emma Carter.”

The fact that Jeremiah won't be here to see it brings tears to her eyes and as she looks into Adonis eye that were a mirror image of Jeremiahs, she can’t stop the tear that slide down her cheek as she whispers, “Yes, thank you.” Adonis looks at her and can see that she is anything but okay. He is about to ask again when Joesph steps forward and whispers to Emma, “You still have work. You have many new warriors kneeling and waiting for your orders, my Queen.” Emma steps back and out of Adonis’s arms and then steps in front of the warriors that are kneeling in front of her, now in rows. She straightens her shoulders and says,

POV EMMA BELLE The air around the pier didn't hum; it sighed. The Elder-Emma walked toward us, her feet silent on the black stone. She didn't carry the Void-Blade; she carried a simple staff made of weathered driftwood. When her eyes—amber, clear, and devoid of violet static—met mine, I felt a shock of recognition that nearly buckled my knees. It wasn't the "Mirror-Ideal" of the Architect; it was the Consequence.

At all the lives Torres is about to end. She makes her choice. Emma runs. Straight at Torres. Enhanced speed kicking in. Faster than she's ever moved. The guards react. Too slow. Emma reaches Torres. Tackles him away from the terminal. They crash to the floor. Torres fights back. He's enhanced too. Stronger than she expected. They roll. Punch. Claw. Emma's hands find his throat. Squeeze. "Stop the countdown," she gasps. "Now." Torres smiles. Blood on his teeth. "Too late. It's already started. Ten minutes. Then this whole place becomes a crater. And you. Me. Everyone. We all die together."

Emma asked, waggling her eyebrows at him. Liam was confused at first, but then he understood what she meant. “Hey, don't be so dirty-minded,” Liam laughed. “I was talking about normal toys like this,” He said, raising the toy revolver in his hand. “You're the one who's being dirty-minded, I never said anything about vibrators or other sex toys,” Emma uttered and bit her bottom lip. Liam burst into a round of laughter, he was enjoying her mood change. He wished that they would be this happy every time.
