RECLAIMING EMMA
Emma followed the sound, her grip on her weapon tightening.
She turned a corner and froze.
A figure stood at a makeshift workstation, their back to her. The glow of a computer screen illuminated their features just enough for her to recognize them.
Her blood ran cold.
It wasn’t a stranger.
It was Alex.
Emma’s mind reeled as she stared at him, “Alex?” she whispered, her voice barely audible.
He turned, his expression a mixture of surprise and regret, “Emma, I can explain.”
She raised her weapon, her hands shaking, realization clicking on her, “You too? You’re working for them? After everything?”
