It was Rebecca.

“Yes?

Alex said, displeasure clear in his tone. He didn’t even know why he was displeased. Was it because of Rebecca’s dressing? Or was it because, deep down, he’d been hoping Emma would be the one to speak up? He told himself it was the former.

“Well, Alex…” Rebecca said, all teeth on the spotlight.

“Dr Maradona,” Alex corrected.

“Okay, sir… Hmm… Mr. Maradona.”

“Okay… what I… want to say is, you see, SoundWave is the place where people are built. Since this is now my label as SoundWave’s dancer and songwriter, how do you intend to take care of me there?”

There was silence in the room. Whether Alex was already contemplating how to answer this question, nobody knew. But it was obviously a blow to Rebecca’s ego.

“SoundWave is a home of talent, not a hotel or hospital. Next question, please. And please, this time, a sensible one,” Alex finally answered.

That earned a burst of laughter from the whole audience from both the haters of Rebecca and the lovers of Rebecca. The laughter fully embarrassed Rebecca. She sat down, staring at the whole class, cheeks burning red.

Rebecca stepped back. SHe pretended to scan the room to see if the whole had witnessed The humiliation. But if she was being honest with herself, it wasn’t The whole class she was looking for. It was Emma reaction .

Emma couldn’t even bring herself to look at anyone else’s face. To her, she just wanted this lecture to end already.

She was tired and just wanted to go. All she had been doing all day was compare herself to the clothes of others, the shoes, the faces, the structure everything about them was a contrast to what she was wearing.

Emma felt this space was too expensive for her. And then she cursed herself. She even cursed the scholarship. She wished she hadn’t gotten this scholarship. If she had known, she would have stayed back in the Philippines.

If she had thought bullying in the Philippines was worse, this was even more . Because they weren’t even bullying her yet and yet she was already feeling intimidated by them. Just by their clothes alone was a bully to her.

She felt embarrassed that she was even sitting close to any of them. She squeezed her back against the locker, hiding it behind her, just to make sure nobody saw the cheap bag she was carrying.

Emma did not fail to notice the attention, the way Alex had stared at her the moment he stepped onto the podium. The way his eyes travelled from her eyes to her lips to her textures . For a second, she was happy.

Because Alex was the first person to look at her without feeling disgusted. She was even happier when she caught the look he gave her a look she took as admiration. At least, Alex admired her.

But then she stopped herself at once, her face falling.

How dare she?

How dare she think Alex Maradona would find her attractive? Who is she ?What about her was attractive? Alex was a handsome man, masculine beauty like a model, like a god in human form. What would someone like that find attractive in her?

She sighed. She wasn’t even present in her own mind when Alex asked if there were any questions. What only made her understand why Alex had been staring at her was when he asked if there were any questions was he really expecting her to answer? To ask or answer any question at all? She was still thinking when she heard,

“I have a question.”

Of course, she rolled her eyes, She didn’t even need to look at the person to know it was Jessica. That was her voice sharp, sounding like she knew it all. Sometimes Emma was jealous of her, because of how bold she was. She wished she could be like that. But she knew she could never be.

She was brought out of her thoughts by Rebecca bold move calling Alex by his name alone. Who did she think she was? How dare she? This man’s name alone carried reputation and power, dangerous power, and

yet Rebeca had said it like it meant nothing.

  • The Girl He Wasn’t Supposed to Want    Big day

Morning light cut through Columbia University like a spotlight, The campus was alive with noise Soundwave banners stretched across the main quad, students huddled in groups, phones out, whispering about the announcement that had been trending since midnight. Rebeca and her crew were in the middle of it, chaos personified. “Put the red one on! No, the black it makes you look thinner!” Rebeca shouted, tossing dresses at her friends like confetti while trying to fix her own hair in her phone camera. “Do you think he’ll actually show up?” one of them squealed. “Alex Maradona in person? I might faint.” Jessica lay on her bed, calm as always, headphones in, legs crossed over her blanket. She wasn’t even looking at the chaos. Her eyes were closed, but the small smirk on her lips said she was watching everything anyway. Emma sat on the edge of her bed, knees pulled up, phone clutched in both hands. Benji’s message glowed on the screen “Emma. We need your voice. Soundwave needs YOU.

Steam still clung to Alex’s skin as he stepped out of the shower, a towel slung low around his waist. Water traced slow paths down his chest, catching the cold light from the penthouse bathroom. His phone was buzzing on the marble counter.Three missed calls. One from Thomas. Two unknown.Alex dried his hands, , and answered. “What?” His voice was hoarse, still carrying the weight of earlier.“Sir, Cassandra’s transfer request just went through. Seoul campus confirmed it. She’ll be flying out in 48 hours. But…” Thomas hesitated, and that pause alone was enough to set Alex’s teeth on edge.“But what Thomas ?” Alex’s tone was sharp now,“She said she wants to wait a few months. Sort out some personal stuff first.”Alex exhaled through his nose, raking a hand through his damp hair. Personal stuff. The words felt heavier than they should. “How personal, Thomas?”“I don’t know, sir.” Thomas waited, and when Alex didn’t fill the silence, he understood. It wasn’t a question. It was an order

He sank into the chair and flipped open his laptop. The screen cast a blue glow across his face. The first thing he pulled up wasn't contracts it was Cassandra’s schedule. She was still in Korea. And it hit him again he couldn’t keep her there. Not with Anando making threats and Richard stirring up the past. If something happened, he wouldn’t be able to reach her in time. If something happened, he would lose her the same way he lost Joseph. And that was a loss he wouldn’t survive. He started typing, fast. Transferring all her credits. Sorting out housing. Paperwork for the New York campus. Every click was sharp, decisive. It had to be done today. Having her here, in New York, close to me. That’s the only way I can protect her right now. Having done that, he opened the SoundWave internal group chat. The “Personal Announcements” channel. His fingers hovered for a second over the keyboard, hesitating only once. Then he typed with finality: “All new signings are to report to

It’s was Anando.Legs stretched out like he owned the place, sitting on Alex’s couch, designer jacket tossed over the armrest. Two maids were kneeling at his feet, coffee and water untouched. The skyline glowed behind him through the glass wall, but Anando wasn’t looking at it. He was looking at the door. Waiting. He didn’t stand up. He didn’t smile. He just took the cigarette from his mouth, dropped it onto Alex’s white marble floor, and crushed it under his shoe with a deliberate grind.like he been waitingAnando raised his jaw with a smirk. “That must have called you,”Alex closed the door quietly. “Get out. And get your foot off my floor.”Anando raised an eyebrow. “Ten years, brother. Ten good years. And that’s how you greet your younger brother?”Alex set the keys down on the empty table, never taking his eyes off Anando. “What are you doing here? Security didn’t call me. You didn’t come through the front. So how did you get in?”Anando laughed, low and sharp, . “It’s like you’v

Benji hesitated then "Rebecca" Are you familiar with the name?”Emma chuckled. “Come on, Benjamin , what are you saying?”He paused. “What’s up with Rebecca though? How are you guys coping? Hope she’s… not a bully anymore? She’s grown out of the bullying era, right?”Emma hesitated for half a second, then lied. “Yeah. She has.”Benji didn’t seem to notice. “Good. So I’ll be coming to Colombia soon.how do you even juggle your work and school and everything together? Isn’t it stressful?” Emma asked concern written in her voicebenji let out a soft laugh. “No, it’s not. I can do it. I’m Benji.”. “Why are you asking? Are we thinking of what I asked you to do in high school? About pushing your voice? It’s a great voice, mama. You should embrace it.”Benji’s tone shifted, more serious now. “Do you know about SoundWave, right?”“Yes, I do.” Emma sat up straighter on the bench.“SoundWave will accept you with open arms, You’re very good.
