The Reclaimed Rose
Picking up an apple, Willow opened her speech draft and read it word by word.
I watched her from the side.
Even though Willow recognized a lot of words, she still didn't know many others.
She turned to look at me.
Instead of telling her how to read the words, I spelled out the words and taught her slowly.
She started practicing the draft with pauses in between.
By the time she read it fluently and memorized it completely, she put it down. She quickly finished her apple and then turned to me, saying, "Mommy, can you and Daddy buy some elementary school textbooks for me?"
