Faye pov I stood frozen in the doorway, with tears still streaming down my face, and my chest heaving from the effort of holding everything in while the cheers for Rieka echoed behind me. My legs felt weak, my hands shook, and the small swell under my dress suddenly felt too heavy to carry alone. I had broken down completely. With quiet sobs I couldn’t stop, my shoulders were shaking, and my vision blurred. I didn’t know how much longer I could stand there without falling.

“You’ve been crying.” I swallow hard, my throat still raw and achy from all the crying I did earlier. “Yeah,” I chuckle dryly, dropping my purse and plopping onto our couch. Yemaya follows suit and I brace myself as I prepare to divulge the news to her. “Maya, something else happened today.”
