As my hand moved to close the safe, something else caught my eye, a book tucked into the corner. Unlike the others, this one was bound in smooth black leather, its edges worn from use. Intrigued, I pulled it out, but as I did, several photographs slipped from its pages, scattering to the floor.
"Well, what do we have here?" Morana mused, her curiosity mirroring mine.
I knelt, picking up the first photograph. It showed a stunning woman with dark hair and piercing eyes, her smile soft yet enigmatic. There was something eerily familiar about her, but I couldn’t quite place it.
