“Make it quick. And stay alive,” I dashed through the corridors, finding the exit. Every door looked alike, silver and steel, few inches taller than me. One of them was the exit, but which? I started with kicking every door open, taking my time to do the search until I found it at the far end of the hall. My exit. The escape from the house was smooth, but what awaited me outside was a full fledged war. Lucas was at the center, fighting off wolves. The rest of the wolves were either circling each other or beating the living shit out the rogues.

The ground was muddy, and they ended up covered in dirt. When Nathan saw them crawling and scrambling toward him, he hurried over to meet them. Just as they reached the safe spot where Nathan had been waiting, a wave of heat rushed toward them, accompanied by deafening explosions. Lying down, Francis shielded Samantha and Nathan under him. Only when the intense heat passed did they cautiously raise their heads. They saw the Maybach, where they had been sitting just moments ago, engulfed in thick black smoke. There were sparks and subsequent explosions, making it terrifying to watch.

“There’s a small island near the Krakatau cluster. Only a few fishing families live there. We’ll stop there, switch boats, and disappear into the interior of Lampung. We need new identities—ones completely disconnected from Jakarta.” Sarah looked up, meeting his gaze. “You’ve thought of everything, haven’t you? Over those two years, Eve and I had slowly collected gasoline, soaking the altar floor with it. I struck the match, and a small flame flickered to life in the darkness. It was a faint one, but it was enough. I tossed the lit match onto the ground. Quickly, sparks flew, and the flames engulfed everything, trapping them in a raging fire. They frantically ran, their screams, cries, and pleas blending together in despair. Gradually, all their voices were swallowed by the fire. The flames burned throughout the night. By dawn, there was almost no trace left of the villagers.
