With a flash, the chalice cracked, and its liquid flame extinguished in black smoke. Sforza shrieked as vines etched in the runes erupted from the earth, binding her retinue. Isabelle held her ground. “The Ember Circle’s power lies not in blood or brute force, but in the choices we make. Thus we dispel your darkness.” The ruins trembled. The vines released their prisoners, and Sforza retreated into the shadows, her curse broken. As moonlight bathed the abbey, Isabelle and Alexander stood triumphant knowing they had faced the ultimate test of their new covenant.
