Grey held my left hand and pulled me to the extremely long ticket line. "This stupid ass line is so fucking long and that guy is so slow, we'll probably get our tickets when the carnival closes", the oh-so familiar voice said in front of us. "Cam", he turned around to see me, along with the girl he was with. She was so fucking beautiful by the way; bright green eyes, brown hair and she looked Mexican and very familiar. "Evie, you're here, Ari, meet Eve, my friend and Eve, meet Ari, my new girlfriend", he pointed to her and I shook hands with her. She looked so fucking familiar but I couldn't put my finger on where exactly I'd seen her before.

Lena's POV. “You are nothing but a clown I raised. You will die worthless and nobody will think you ever existed, not me, not even Dominic,” Elaine fumed at me with a knife in her hand. I pulled back breathing rapidly. She launched at me, screaming furiously, and I ran in any direction, my heart throbbed and my hands trembled. She was a few inches from thrusting the weapon at me when I tripped on my feet and fell to the ground.

Elias slowly closed his eyes. “So…” He whispered. “You survived.” Evelyn nodded. “Barely.” Elara frowned. “Quinn?” Evelyn smiled sadly. “I was Isabella’s younger sister.” The room fell silent. “My aunt?” “Yes.” Elara’s knees almost gave way. “My mother had a sister?” Elias nodded.

While she stood there like a goddess from a forgotten story, I was a pale shadow, trying to disappear into the walls. “Hi,” she said first, her voice smooth and warm. “I’m Evelina. Alaric’s sister… and Dorian’s mate.” Oh. She’s Dorian’s mate. My gaze dropped to her neck, and that’s when I saw it — the faint mating mark just below her collarbone, glowing softly against her skin. It suited her, like it belonged there. Her tone was kind, but confident, the kind of voice people listened to. “My brother asked me to bring you some clothes,” she continued, motioning toward the bed. “I’ve placed them there.”

Evelyn’s eyes sharpened. “Naomi.” The maid shook her head quickly. “No, Madam. No one has seen her.” Evelyn leaned back. That answer did not satisfy her. Not at all. “Keep your ears open,” she said quietly. “Sometimes, the smallest news hides the biggest truth.” The maid nodded and left. Evelyn stared ahead. Something was coming. She could feel it. --- Upstairs Valentina stood in front of the mirror, staring at her reflection. She looked perfect.

She sensed that giving too much information would be a mistake. The woman’s expression didn’t change, but her eyes grew a little sharper. They were like two pieces of flint. “Isabella Vance,” she said. “I work closely with Lucien. On everything.”

“That’s not an answer.” She sighed, her shoulders sagging as if the weight of the world rested on them. “Her name was Amelia. She was… different, like you. A force the pack couldn’t ignore, for better or worse.” “Different how?” I pressed. Evelyn’s gaze met mine, sharp and unyielding. “You already know, don’t you? You feel it. The way the air changes around you, the way people look at you. You’ve stirred something, child. Something that hasn’t been touched in decades.”

Her ginger hair seemed out of place for her green eyes. Evelyn Torres. The Obnoxiously flirty, but only when it benefitted her. If Ellie was a queen, Evelyn was her self-appointed lady-in-waiting, always hyping her up. She was the shortest in the group and her lips were plump. Probably from talking too much.
