Janelle bolted upright, robe flaring open as the door creaked, and Dante, her upstairs neighbour, walked into her apartment. Keys in hand. Face frozen. “Shit sorry! I thought my place?” His voice trailed off. Then he looked again. Janelle on the ottoman, flushed and spread wide. Viktor kneeled between her legs, mouth frozen inches from her slick folds. Silence thickened like syrup. She fumbled for the robe. “I, I can explain” But Dante didn’t look shocked. He looked intrigued. “That’s the new ReVibe Series 3 model, right? High response AI? You, you built this?”

EVELINE “Gotta go, Tam.” “Where is his place?” Tammy asked, looking up from where she sat on the couch. Eveline paused to put on her jacket, then took up her bag again. “It's out of the city,” Eveline replied. “But I could Uber there apparently.” She had checked just before taking her bath. ‘Vale Villa’ was the name of the place, and it was a ten minute drive. “I still don't understand why he can't just admit your dad at the hospital.”

I searched his eyes for an answer, but whatever it was lay deep in his heart, a place I couldn’t reach with just my eyes. “She was brought back to life,” he revealed. “Elena?” My heart hammered as her name escaped my mouth. “No, Rhoda. She was returned from the dead by the moon goddess. And now my brother won’t rest until he finds her killer,” he answered. It was more relieving to hear Rhoda was back to life than Elena. Not that it did any good for both of us, but at least, it wouldn’t be on my side to struggle from the beginning again. I sighed, shaking my head as thoughts evaded it. “So what’s going happen. Everything’s in place, you need to do something,”

“I’ll call you once I’m off.” I nodded and turned to walk away. “Do you mind if I walk you down? Just until you get a cab,” the guy asked behind me. “If you want to,” I said, not bothering to look back. We walked down the quiet street together. The city felt different at night still and quiet. “I’m Ian,” he said. “I’m Evelyn. But everyone calls me Eve,” I answered flatly. “Nice. You’re new around here?” “Obviously,” I muttered, not wanting to give too much information.

The air was thick with a nauseating scent. As I approached the bed, my whole body began to shake uncontrollably. Eve lay there, naked and motionless, like a shattered doll. Her face was ghostly pale and damp with sweat, while her hair was a tangled mess, with strands sticking to her cheeks. Her body was covered in bruises, with red scratches crisscrossing her skin. Eve’s lower half was in an even worse state. A beer bottle, its neck stained black, was roughly lodged there. The surrounding skin was swollen and raw, the dried blood dark and crusted.

The door slowly went open and Mom stepped out through it, just as I was about open the door of my car and step out to approach her, a sleek shiny black Venza showed up and parked at the other side of the road, I paused in my seat and just decided to watch. The door open , my eyes went wide and my jaws dropped open as I saw Geraldine step out of the car, Geraldine, in flesh and in blood! And this is definitely not one of her customers.

The wind was blowing her hair as her eyes were closed and back slightly arched. She was in a beautiful red dress that clung to every curve of her body. It was the evening and the bright lights of Vegas cast a glow around her. I slouched against the couch.
