Shifter Short Stories
I lean against the tree next to Dale, but don't touch him.
"None of us had the best backgrounds either. My mother was killed by my father, and then he thought he was going to have me take her place. When I was ten, he tried to get into bed with me. I had been waiting for him, so I reached under my pillow, pulled out a butcher knife, and stuck it in his heart. I was on my own until I met the bunnies when I was fifteen. I'm twenty now and just finished nursing school. So, are you okay mating with a killer bunny?" I ask him as I put my shoulder-length black hair into a ponytail. Dale shifts toward me. He's so close I can feel the heat from his body.
