His vision blurred as Jack fell to the floor. For a moment, the dark room became darker. He blinked his eyes in his throbbing head. Lexi peaked out from under the desk, her dark blue eyes a mix of fear and panic. One Alpha was atop him. The man took off his helmet. His cool grey eyes stared down at him, his face expressionless and plain except for several deep scars that crossed his cheek. He smiled wickedly and held the knife up to Jack's throat. Jack's heart pounded in his ears. This was it, he was done for and he didn't even get to save the girl.

Even Lilith, who missed her swords, taught her only to touch a weapon again. The leaves on the trees didn’t stir and the clouds didn’t drift. Even the insects in the air were frozen in place as if trapped in a time freeze; we were the only ones that moved. Jack continued to pour as slowly as he could so that he could savour this.
