"This is Healer Maren. She specializes in supernatural contamination." The woman stepped forward. She was middle-aged with silver streaks in her dark hair and eyes that seemed to see everything. "We need to run a definitive test," she said without introduction. "What kind of test?" "Silver tonic," she replied, pulling a small silver cup from her bag. "True supernatural contamination reacts violently to pure silver." "Violently how?" "Burns the throat. Causes internal damage. Sometimes… death." I stared at the cup she was filling with clear liquid. It steamed slightly, and I could smell the metallic scent.

So, she decided to kill the Hall family’s heir. She wanted revenge, but she also wanted Vivian’s unborn child to be recognized as Blake’s heir and eventually take over the Hall family fortune. But Sean knew nothing about her plan. Under Crystal’s encouragement, he actually brought Vivian to my clinic to conceive a child with a dead man. Crystal opposed it at first. Later, after thinking it through, she realized it would make the story even more believable, so she stopped trying to interfere. In the end, Vivian’s guilty conscience got the better of her, and she ran away before the ritual was even completed that night…

He reached into the duffle he had been carrying and pulled out a folder. “I did some deep digging. There wasn’t much on fact more on myth but after an examination of your mate I’ll be able to tell you if it’s true or not. Legend has it that one day the pure will be fatefully bonded or mated and they in turn will produce more pure. It’s not like the random pure where the goddess herself bestows the power on an individual. If this is correct you will be able to create them yourself. The goddess has blessed you to do so.” “So Storm is potentially carrying pure children?”

Every Alpha in their bloodline was born like a golden god. But not Ria. She was born with dark chestnut hair. People whispered that I had cheated. They looked at me with filth in their eyes, and eventually, Raymond started looking at me the same way. I had begged him for a DNA test. I had pleaded with him to prove her parentage so the accusations would stop. I wasn't filthy. I hadn't cheated. She was his.

"Which is why I wanted to ask if you would be willing to subject yourself to a blood test so we can be certain you are, in fact, a human." My eyebrows furrowed. "Of course I am," I assured him. "But I'll take the test if it clears all of this up." He nodded, satisfied with my answer. "There's another thing," I said to him. "The book said that to have a mate, a Lycanthrope had to be pure-blooded. You're a hybrid, you shouldn't have a mate either."

The ritual didn't just test bloodline purity. It tested the bond itself. If the magic determined the bond was false, forced, or politically motivated rather than genuine, it would attempt to break it. By killing one of us. "They're trying to murder me," I said. "Yes," Ezra said simply. "Or break the bond and make you both suffer the consequences." "Can the ritual actually break a true mate bond?" Caspian's voice was dangerously quiet. "No one knows," Ezra admitted. "It's never been used to test a bond before. Only bloodlines. But the Council added that clause specifically for Rielle."

Purity hissed, leaning forward, "but that means absolutely nothing. That mark won't activate or bind your souls until he has actually mated with you. And you know damn well he'll never touch you like that. You're just a political prisoner." I let out a soft, mocking laugh. "Is that so? What makes you so damn sure about that, Purity? Because let’s be real—if you were actually that confident about Adrian never mating with me, you wouldn't have sliced your own wrist open out of pure jealousy last night." Purity’s face instantly twisted into a hideous mask of pure, blinding fury. "You bitch!" she screamed. She lunged forward, raising her right hand high in the air, bringing it down fast to slap

Miranda did not know what that meant but the brothers' faces went pale. "Aunt Louisa, no," Hayden said. "The Purity Test is dangerous—" "It reveals truth," Louisa interrupted. "If her bonds are genuine, blessed by the Moon Goddess, she will pass. If they are false, created through dark magic or manipulation, the test will expose it." "It could kill her," Lucas protested. "Then she should have nothing to fear if she is truly innocent." Louisa looked at Miranda again. "Unless you have something to hide?" Miranda's mind raced. "What is this test?"

The white light looked a bit grey and turbid. "One beam. Medium. Next." The two people in teal and white yesterday were here to hold the test. The teal one recorded the results, while the white one kept order. Behind them was a high platform where Yu Yifeng and an elder in charge of the Spiritual Meridian Test. Many Three Pure Sect disciples, including Mo Yu, Wen Qingyu, Luo Shangyan, and Cheng Ying, were down below the platform. The youth resentfully walked back. The chance for him to join the sect was basically gone. The Spiritual Meridian had quality ranks. The purer the beam, the higher the quality rank; vice versa.

A faint tingle met my touch—and for an instant, a whisper‑thin glow of silver chased my fingertip there and gone so quickly I might have imagined it. The bond with Kael and Rian gave a tiny answering pulse, like a heartbeat syncing to that light. “Does it still…do things?” Rowan asked. “Or is it just aesthetic now? Not that I’m judging—scars are very ‘mysterious heroine chic,’ but I’d like to know if it’s going to randomly explode.” “Only one way to test,” Myra said. She glared at him. “Not on you.” “Aww,” Rowan said faintly. “You do care.”
