Clark P.O.V I managed to dry off and get out of the bath. I was completely furious that Rowan just let it seem like this was a duty and that it meant nothing. At least it meant something to me … it was my virginity for goddess's sakes! I paced up and down in my room. “Fuck that!” I said to myself. I got dressed, put on my shoes and readied myself to get out of here. If he wanted to keep me here as a prisoner, then that would be too bad for him, because I didn’t take light to taking orders.

"For a very long time, I truly thought it would be Stefan. But Stefan completely denied me and threw me away, so I don't think I can ever even have a mate in this world. Personally, I absolutely hate the whole idea of a fated mate anyway. I don't believe that concept is even real." I shook my head in deep disgust, looking back at him with total conviction. "Like... how on earth can you completely love a random person from just looking at them for the very first time? It makes absolutely no sense." I uncrossed my arms, gesturing wildly with my bandaged hands as I let out all my hidden frustration. "That is the exact stupid fairytale they always tell people about these fated mates. They claim

"Okay, listen, deep breath, don't crash the damn car again, I'll explain." She crosses her arms, one eyebrow raised, jaw tight, like she's about to file a complaint with the universe. "In our world," I start, keeping my tone calm and patient like I'm explaining algebra to someone who hates math, "Fated Mates are the real deal. It's not just love or lust or whatever. The Moon Goddess literally pairs souls. Like, cosmically. Think destiny, but make it magical." Ava squints. "Okay... but what does that have to do with me? I'm human. I bleed wine and sarcasm, not moonlight and wolf magic."

She asked him. “No,” he dropped his eyes back to the notepad. “But I don’t like boyfriend,” it was muttered. “De facto?” She suggested. He grimaced. “So hippy.” She sighed out a breath and turned back to her page. “Fated mate?” “What the f–k is a fated mate?” He demanded. “What are we, dogs?” “It is a term they use in certain romance genres to describe a relationship between two people where destiny draws them irresistibly together.”

Sometimes we feel the pull towards someone in particular thus making us find that person who will make us complete. A fated bond is irreplaceable, the tingles in the skin and sparks don't feel the same, that's why it is so valuable and precious. Of course, we can have a chosen mate instead to whom we will commit for the rest of our lives. Someone that is expected to be our lifelong partner and that we won’t be with anyone else. But this is not at all accurate, sometimes fated bonds are rejected in favor of a chosen one, or in our case, the bond has been forced broken.

"That's news." He then turned and looked at me, with a pitiful expression. "Don't worry, don't cry. You'll do fine." He sipped from his tea. "You don't need him, you can get over him." He then stole a glance at Adrian and click his tongue. "He isn't worthy of you." I raised my head at him. "Are you sure?" I whimpered. "Yes." He replied. "I'm sure you'll meet the right person who's worthy of you."
