I replied with a low voice. "Can you hear yourself talk Leslie?" Dad was even more angrier. Dad and I have never really being that close no matter how hard we both tried. We just did not click well at all and it affected our father abd daughter relationship. Dad loved and adored Lauren more because she was more like him in character and they both clicked well. My both parents actually adored Lauren more than me and it never for once bothered me because I did not spend me whole teenage years with them.

"Is it dead?'' I didn't fail to ask but my father ignored me and lifted me up to his body. He was referring to the paternal bond(the bond a father shares with his child).

I’m not going to lie… the thought of it scares me. My father is the only family I have left. Although I’m confident and happy with the steps that Julian and I are taking, getting engaged, having a child, building a home... none of this can replace my spot as his daughter. I don’t think he ever really realized how grateful I am… how much I love him, and how much I treasure our relationship… it’s better than I imagined in those hypothetical scenarios from my childhood.

In the quiet of the night, surrounded by the comforting embrace of my pack, I felt a deep sense of gratitude for the relationships that had woven themselves into the tapestry of my life. I turned to my father and hug him tightly, "I'm glad I am your daughter."

I couldn’t recall a moment where my father had shown any sort of affection to Celine or given his consent to our friendship. My Dad was friends with Celine’s family for more than two decades.
