Shadows curled around them, slick and liquid, rising like smoke.
“Griffin—stop—”
He lifted his hand slowly, as though in pain, and when I looked closer, I saw it black symbols etched along his wrist, glowing faintly under the skin. They twisted like living things, crawling higher toward his elbow, his shoulder, his neck.
I tried to scream, but no sound came out.
He looked at me then, and for a moment, something flickered in his eyes, real fear.
“Lena… run.”
It wasn’t a threat. It was a warning.
