The few days leading up to the Christmas party, I gave Felix the time of his life. I took him to so many new places, introduced him to my people. Even got him a passport so that we can fly to Paris for the New Year. I also updated his style and his bank account. I didn't care that Olivia tagged along. I wanted her to watch as I take everything from her, even though it's not that much. I swear, if I knew anything about her family, I would take them under my wing as well.

It was a Christmas of firsts for both Felix and Cassie. For Felix, this was the first time that his house had ever been decorated for Christmas. In the past, he had put up a plastic miniature tree if he remembered and while Hazel had still been alive, she had put up a menorah for the December festivities. Now, the decorations started right from the gates to the mansion, with the pathway leading to the house lined with colorful reindeer figurines, giant candy canes and plastic snowmen. The house was decked in strings of flashing Christmas lights that Felix was certain would be visible from space.

“Can someone tell that girl to stop acting like a child on Christmas morning? It's starting to annoy me…” Felix complained under his breath, but Hunter was still able to hear him, even though his uncle was several meters away, with the rest of the council, all standing behind him watching the forest trail.

I had to see what she thought about superheroes and especially “The Fox.” “I got a random question for you. What do you think of the superheroes Lady Rose and General Storm? And what happened to their little fox?” I asked, hoping not to sound as nervous as I felt. “Uh? What do you mean?” Cindy asked, sounding confused. She probably thought I was crazy for asking some random question like that. BOOM The ground shook, and smoke filled the air. People were screaming. It was chaos. “What the hell was that?” Cindy asked. I grabbed her as the familiar smell filled my nose. It could only be one thing and it was not good.

"Ha! You act tough for a second and then back off? Such a joke! You're just pretending to be forgiving to impress Celine so she'll compare you to me and think you're more considerate. "After all, you're even taking care of her mom. How nice of you. You should look in the mirror. You're old and ugly. Celine would never fall for you." Desperate to de-escalate the situation, Layla rushed to clarify, "Felix, Isaac has a fiancee." But Felix refused to believe it and continued his sarcastic tirade, "Don't think I can't see through your little act. Look at him, with that pathetic face. Any woman who'd date him must be blind."

"They’re just finally getting to be quiet." Félix was behind me, his arms wrapped around my waist, his chin resting on my shoulder. He didn't have his emerald flare, but his body was a furnace of mortal heat. He smelled of sea-salt and tobacco, a grounded, human scent that I preferred to any celestial ozone. "It’s a long way to go for a 'goodbye', Little Bird. But I suppose we owe them that much for staying in our heads for fourteen years."

Your man’s going to spank your ass later,’ he said in his mind before following them. Demie, on the other hand, was still clinging to Aly's arm as they entered the inside of the venue. Christmas decors on every corner, a large Christmas tree was settled on the side with its bright chirstmas lights and a gold star on the top. And with the christmas song played, people smiling at each other, Demie can really feel the spirit of Christmas. Someone meets them, a man who Demie thinks is the same age as Sandro. "Auntie, Merry Christmas," he greeted the woman and kissed her on the cheek.

I curled up with Chris in his bed as we watched a movie. He’s been worried about me over the past week, which I feel bad about. I hate worrying everyone. Chris surprised me with a home-cooked dinner and a movie; A Journey Back to Christmas, my favorite Christmas movie ever. I sighed as we watched, “What’s wrong?” Chris asked; I shook my head, but Chris was not about to take that for an answer. He paused the movie and straightened up, waiting for me to talk to him.

He scowled at me but there was no real bite in it. "Which one do you want?" It took a split second for me to realize he was going to let me choose something. My grin widened as I eagerly looked around at my options. I knew I was acting like a child but that's what this festival did to you. It brought out your inner child and what was more of a perfect time for that than Christmas. And add on to the fact Knox was being very sweet by winning me something. "I'll take Rudolph." I pointed to the kinda smaller reindeer hanging by himself. The older man working the booth handed him over with a kind smile as I held two stuffed animals in my arms.

That very day we ordered our second Christmas miracle. END
