My wolf paced in my skull, howling, scratching, demanding to get out. Mine. Protect. Fix. Wake her. Wake her. WAKE HER. A trembling hand touched my shoulder. Ember. Her cheeks were streaked with tears, her eyes red, her hands shaking. But she stood tall, always braver than she knew. She whispered, “Z… she’s still fighting. I can feel it. She’s my best friend — she wouldn’t leave us without a fight.” I swallowed hard. “I can’t… I can’t lose her, Em.”

Everyone watched her. Even Rowan straightened slightly, like he already knew what was coming. Elena opened the box slowly, like she was performing a sacred act. Inside was a heavy silver necklace. The chain was thick and detailed, shaped like moons and vines. In the center was a crescent pendant with a moonstone that caught the candlelight and glowed softly. My heart dropped. I knew that necklace. I had seen it in old pack portraits, resting on the necks of past Lunas.

We walked towards the bonfire, merging into the celebrating crowd. Behind us, waves crashed against the rocks, again and again. Those years of being let down, those lonely waits, were all washed away by the sea. And I finally found my true belonging. Not a home that required my constant waiting, but a real home built on mutual respect. Under the moonlight, the new mark on my arm glowed softly. The artifact hummed with an unrelenting energy, its glow intensifying, illuminating the chamber in shades of electric blue and silver that threatened to drown out the dark shadows looming above. The mastermind staggered back, momentarily distracted by Amelia’s approach. Yet with a predatory grin, he brushed his hand against the artifact, a jolt of energy surging between them. “This is where it begins,” he taunted, his voice echoing through the chamber. The pulsing light enveloped him, amplifying his presence like a storm cloud ready to unleash its wrath.
