Things that happened newly weren’t leaving my mind, making me think repetitively about them. I get up from my bed walking towards the ark kept at the entrance of my wardrobe. Petals carved in wood, graciously making it an outstanding piece of art.

I wanted to be saved, to be out of myself, out of my mind, but I was starting to be afraid of having hope. I felt Ember's warm outline move behind me, making me turn around. She could materialise herself in our dream once again, like she did sometimes because of our uncanny and strong connection. I looked intently at her light golden eyes, and I saw vibrant red locks dancing with the soft rhythm of the wind, surrounded by sparks of fire reflected in my Dragon’s irises. It wasn’t normal fire, but rather something beyond it, something gold, fluid, translucent. A gasp left my lips as I realised what she was trying to say; she didn’t expect that the white wolf could help us, but rather the fire-

Edith was annoyed, but when she noticed that I was awake, she raised her eyebrows proudly and took a bite of the fruit. Evelyn's face lit up with joy. "I've removed the pits from the cherries for you." I opened my dry lips and hoarsely called out, "Mom." Though Evelyn had her back to me, I could feel her smile freeze. After a long silence, she spoke coldly. "Now that you're awake, you should go home. The hospital charges for the bed." Stunned, I looked at the IV in Edith's hand, but I had nothing.

Mira clawed at her throat, her eyes wide, terrified, her fingers scraping at nothing as the invisible force tightened around her neck. Rowan lifted his other hand to finish it, and that’s when it happened. A flash of white. No, it wasn't white. It was blinding, holy even and almost impossible. It erupted right in front of Rowan, exploding outward like a star being born. Every warrior, every puppet, every creature on the field cried out and shielded their eyes. I fell onto my hands as the world turned winter white. “What…?!” Rowan snarled, stumbling back. The light reached my skin, warm, and familiar, and I just knew who it was.

The end has already begun.” When those threatening words filled the air, the power inside me peaked. A burst of bright light spread out, covering the open space. The final thing I noticed before the light took over was the wolf's red eyes, filled with fear.

Miriam's face was pale with strain as she held the gleaming artifact on high, her hands trembling with the exertion. The light it radiated was more or less a beacon, pushing back the onerous obscurity that encompassed them. Ethan felt its warmth, a stark difference to the cold, pernicious energy of the chasm. But indeed as he recaptured his strength, he saw that the artifact's light was blurring, the brilliance that had driven back the shadowy figure starting to dim.
