A single spark in the server room—silent, almost reverent—before the flames unfurled across steel and glass, licking their way through the laboratory like a reckoning. The chemicals hissed as they caught, feeding the blaze with everything that had been hidden. Smoke rose in slow spirals, curling through the air like it had come to collect what the past was too cowardly to keep. Isla didn’t move.

He wasn’t strong enough to move me. The fire inside me swirled like a beast, a power I had barely tapped into, a strength that coursed through my veins like molten lava. I gripped his hands tighter, feeling the burn of it. My sleeves caught fire, the flames dancing up my arms, licking at the edges of my skin, but I didn’t flinch. With a casual flick of his wrist, he deflected the fire, and then, with blinding speed, his hands shot out, catching my wrists in an iron grip, forcing me still, the last remnants of my struggle dying in a frustrated whimper.

Suddenly, she parted her jaws, and a stream of fire shot out, engulfing the space around me. The flames were intense, licking at the edges of the circle I had drawn. I felt the heat radiating towards me, and my heart skipped a beat as I realized just how consuming the fire was. But despite the initial shock, I didn't move. I didn't dare to. Instead, I forced myself to trust in Callista, to believe that she wouldn't hurt me. This was just a test, I told myself. A test of my faith in her, of my willingness to surrender to the unknown.

My mother’s voice was soft, hesitant, as she wrung her hands in front of her. “Nevaeh” she began, her words trembling. “What happened? You’ve been gone for days without a word. After the festival, I... I thought something terrible might have happened.” I sighed, leaning against the counter, my arms crossed over my chest. The truth was too heavy to explain. How could I tell her about the fire in his eyes? The bond I felt? How could I explain that my mate brought me back here, to the very place I hated most?

I took the torch, feeling its threatening heat, and began to spread the fire around the Cabin. The flames came to life, consuming the wood with insatiable voracity. My heart raced as the flames grew, becoming a fiery metaphor for my determination to eliminate any obstacle between me, Hunter, and our future child. The crackling of the flames echoed in the forest's quiet, but my mind was focused on making a decision that would change the course of things in the pack. The fire was my answer, an action rooted in the conviction that Fierce should no longer cast a shadow over our destiny.
