The blonde girl leaned down and placed a kiss on my cheek, the smell of cigarettes and Alcohol radiating off of her in an obnoxious breeze. I couldn’t for the life of me understand why she hadn’t taken a shower like I had, “Morning baby” she greeted, lingering just above me as I side turned to face her, I bet she didn’t know her lipstick was all wrong on one side, noticing she was dressed in one of my t-shirts.

And Rose didn’t care. The creature reached her— And she lifted her hand. Just one. The fire answered. Not in a burst— But in a column. A focused, blinding surge of white-hot flame that erupted upward, meeting the creature head-on.

Like I had the power of life and death. The third one, however, I did not allow to burn entirely but only the edge of the petals. Half red and half black. Roses on fire. Suddenly, I let out a hysterical laugh until my cousin walked into the office, perhaps brought on by the smell or even my outbursts. “What the hell are you doing, Rick?” “Killing them!” I replied, keeping my fanatical grin on my face. “Killing roses…” he repeated as he approached. “You okay, bro?”

I opened my own studio, and my days became full, vibrant, and happy. One night, Jordan stepped out of the shower, a towel slung loosely around his waist. As he turned, I caught sight of a tattoo on the small of his back. I leaned closer. It was a rose in full bloom—beside it, a little girl dancing. My fingertips trembled as I traced it, my eyes stinging. "I had it done when I was seventeen," he said softly. His gaze lowered to mine, eyes shimmering with starlight. "I wanted to keep it a secret until the day you became my bride."

Freya looked up and saw a burst of vibrant red. With the sky growing darker and the light too dim to make out what they were, she asked, "What's that?" Lily or Rose. I remembered that I talked to the florist if I wanted Rose to look pretty with lots of pink! There are two colors of roses I can choose from. Blood red or pink. "Are you jealous?"
