Almost 11 p.m., they decided it was time to go home.
They stumbled out the back door, holding each other up, laughing loud, tripping in their heels, hair flying in the freezing New York night wind. The parking lot was almost empty, just a few scattered cars, flickering streetlights, the distant noise of the city that never sleeps.
