[Lila pov] I'm shoving books into my locker on Monday morning when Kai appears like he materialized out of thin air or something. He's got that post-weekend look—hoodie, messy hair, the kind of casual energy that makes it look like he just woke up five minutes ago and decided clothes were optional. "You got plans for lunch?" he asks. I turn around, holding a stack of textbooks against my chest. "Plans? Kai, it's Monday. My plans are to survive until Friday."

Are you out of your mind? My merciless words slapped Aiden across the face. His face turned red at once. He stood there in disbelief, as if he could not understand how the father who loved him most could say such things. "Enough!" Vanessa suddenly shouted, as if the temper she had held back all day had finally exploded. "Didn't you agree to let us go? Why are you bringing it up now? Our son and I are only worried about you. Why do you have to be so sharp and mean?

Then I add, “But I’m not in any rush to be a grandmother.” Noah chokes on air. Emily snorts in the front seat. Raven bursts into laughter. “Trust me,” Raven says, wiping her eyes, “I’m not ready for that stage of life either.” The tension breaks. Just for a moment. Just long enough to breathe. Grace and Liam are already hauling my books into the dining room when we arrive. Stacks and stacks of them—old leather-bound grimoires, Warren family journals, spellbooks, prophecy collections, everything I’ve ever studied.

As he was walking away, the lady then asked him, “If you don’t mind… do you want to sit at the same table then.” “Are you sure? There are-” “No, I- I insist… Since this corner of the café is the best spot to read, I always sit here, I don’t mind sharing it with you.: “Ah sure, that spot was something I had my eye on since earlier.” Kayne replied. “AH, REALLY, let’s share it then!” Both were really awkward at each other at first but when they found out that both were reading the same book, they eventually got a comfortable to talk at each other.

Henna will be mad if she has to buy me new books already. This stupid shade over my head is doing less to nothing to protect me from the rain. It's started to get really cold now. The wind is blowing ghastly almost, it seems like it must be storming in some places. Glad it's not happening here. I wouldn't like the idea of getting washed away from the earth with the harsh wind as much as Gabriel would like that. I have to admit though, I really like storms, I don't know why but It gives me inner peace, makes me all giddy for some unknown reason.
