The Forgotten Son
As I no longer loved her, her apologies meant nothing to me.
Sitting on the floor, I only had one thing on my mind.
It was time for me to cross over.
In my next life, I hoped to live as a mindless single-celled organism.
Helen patted Jean on the shoulder.
“Tanner has your heart, so it makes sense that you’re in denial now.”
Jean snapped her head up.
“But Tanner gave me his kidney. He loves and cares about me.”
Helen gave Jean a look as if she were an idiot.
