Gone With the Quiet Wind

Gone With the Quiet Wind

She had nothing left. I never saw her again. … Some time later, I heard people say a homeless woman had jumped into a river. Before her death, she told someone, "Don't cheat. I once had a great marriage, but I ruined it." Her life ended while I continued moving forward under the sun. I became the city's richest man, navigating the corporate landscape and living in the spotlight. Bruce was happy with my growth. A few years later, he passed away peacefully. I never remarried, but I did adopt two boys and raised them into capable adults. Years later, they took over my company. I didn't hesitate to retire and chose to spend my days thinking about what to eat, taking care of my garden, and my dog

The Forgotten - Book One of the Chronicles of Faynon

The Forgotten - Book One of the Chronicles of Faynon

Draynon nodded and opened the book. He leafed through the book until he found the chapter that he was looking for. “Here we go. Now this was roughly 120 years ago, or four generations. It’s not so much a history book, but written similar to a novel to make the facts easier for the reader to remember, rather than just bombarding them with endless seeming names and numbers.” He coughed once to clear his throat and began reading from the book.

Three Months of Mourning

Three Months of Mourning

A text from the bank reminded me that one of my low-risk investments started accruing interest today. Part of the money from selling the house went toward paying cash for the new place. Part became my emergency fund. The rest, I invested carefully. Financial independence was the foundation for everything else. I thought back to my visit to the care facility earlier. A caregiver had quietly mentioned that my mother-in-law seemed better lately. She sometimes sat by the window, lost in thought, but she no longer secretly wiped away tears like before. She appeared to be keeping that money safe herself. Donovan had not come begging for it.

Things You Need

Things You Need

Forster. The second shelf held old pulp novels from the thirties and forties. When he was fourteen years old his great grandmother, recognizing a hungry reader, started giving him one novel a month. They bore such outlandish titles as The House of Darkness, The Tree that Screamed, The Strangler Fig, The Devil’s Mansion, Crimson Ice, The Undying Monster and Heads, You Lose. He’d consumed those books one after the other, a new junkie mainlining his first fix. Grandma White promised him when she passed, he could have them all. Those books were older than any of the others in his office.

Good Things Fall Apart

Good Things Fall Apart

"We don't have money right now but we'll buy some, some other time." The kid looked sad and all grumpy as the mother apologizes to the store owner. Suddenly, Eustone felt the urge to buy the kid some oranges. After the two strangers left, he went to the shop and bought some oranges and apples. Then he went to chase them. "Excuse me," he approached. "Yes?" The mother of the kid turned, her face looked confused. "I wanted to give the oranges to the kid... well with apples." The woman looked closely at him and then smiled. "Thank you, young man," she said, taking the bag full of apples and oranges.

Billionaire's Reborn Hot Wife

Billionaire's Reborn Hot Wife

Jojo gently pushed Zhang Bingsheng away in front of him, stared straight at Mary Kinson, and looked with indifference: "Then you can make it clear, what is the intention and inspiration of this novel?" Mary Kinson spoke calmly: "The prototype of this plot is a story around a grandmother I know. Her granddaughter is a disabled person. She has been living in the house for the first half of her life and dares not go out. The whole life is gloomy. Because she met a sunny man, she bravely took a step in her life and came out of the room. At this time, her inner struggle was both real and long... " She talked without a trace of jamming in her voice.

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning

Forrest roughly nudged the chunky guy snoozing beside Madelyn. Startled awake, he blinked in confusion. "Get lost!" Forrest yelled. The guy was born into sudden wealth thanks to his family's booming livestock business, wasn't known for much other than his frequent naps. His schoolwork often had evidence of his drool. Seeing Forrest, he quickly understood and got up, freeing the spot.

Solidum Gaby
I could already see this will go on happy ending for Madeline & Zach. Regrets of Fred & fighting to win Mya. Blake & Kevin. Especially Dalton, I know this child's birth have secrets from the very beginning, whether he was born from cells of Madi & Zach or he travel from the past. Where is it?
Donna M Miller
What is the point of a second chance book if no one's life truly changes.? In fact, from my point of view, Madelyn's life seems to have gotten even worse. And we don't even get a resolution of the main story.
