We reach a statue and a woman holding a camera asks in broken English if she can take our picture, I nod at her, drawing Irene closer to my side, though I am not one for attention, I let the woman take our photo before running off to show her friends. A few snapshots resound in my ear and I stare at Irene holding up her camera, smiling. “Really?” I ask. “What?” She shrugs. “I want my camera to be full of photos of my own husband.” Since I am taller, she gets on her tiptoes and places her soft lips on my cheeks.
