My phone buzzed with a new email. “St. Mary’s Fertility Clinic” I opened it with trembling fingers. Dear Diana Floss, We are pleased to inform you that all your test results have come back normal. There are no abnormalities with your uterus or reproductive system. You have excellent fertility markers and no medical reasons that would prevent you from conceiving and carrying a child to term. My hand covered my mouth. I had spent so long convincing myself I was broken, that I could never have a family of my own. And now…

He didn't touch me, but his thigh remained pressed firmly against mine, a heavy, solid weight reminding me exactly who controlled my movement. When the vehicle finally slowed, the massive wrought-iron gates of the Voss estate parted slowly, flanked by private security officers checking the undercarriage of each SUV with mirrors. As we rolled up the long, winding driveway, the sheer scale of the property overwhelmed me. The stone fortress loomed against the dark sky, surrounded by high walls topped with thermal cameras and motion sensors that blinked with steady, rhythmic red lights.

"Lay flat on your back," Rui said, "and just relax your legs as much as possible," he said, holding her toes in his hands and gently shaking her legs, trying to get her to relax, her left foot flopping almost 45º to the left, while her right foot remained almost perpendicular to the mattress.

Damien's POV The metal gates of GrundgeVille Penitentiary slammed shut behind me with a sound that echoed straight into my bones. Three years. Thirty-six months of concrete walls, steel bars, and the kind of silence that eats a man alive. I stood on the cracked sidewalk under the blazing afternoon sun, duffel bag slung over one shoulder, the cheap black hoodie and jeans they’d issued me already sticking to my skin from the heat.

"Firm to the south. Softer near the river." "The foundations," he said. "The north edge will need piling," Colin said. "Not deep. The ground is soft but it's consistent. We'll know more when we dig." He thought about the piling at the north edge — the concrete columns driven into the soft ground near the river, the foundation of the building reaching into the earth at the north, the building rooted deeper where the ground was least certain. He thought about the attending in the ground — the phrase from the Farrow notebooks, the preparation embedded in the foundation, the building beginning its hon

A presence that makes me shiver before I can even comprehend it. So I get ready quickly, though just thinking about it sends chills down my spine. I shake my head and force myself to get up. There’s no room for fear today. Today is my first day of work at Más Uno, a renowned company dedicated to selling luxury cars. I pull my blonde hair into a flawless bun and slip into my platinum-blue skirt, smoothing it down until it reaches my knees. My white blouse is pristine. Today, I represent the Bridge name, and making it shine after graduating from college is the most exciting thing in my life right now.

finally stabilized into "Working-Models." "And the 'Library' is 'Full'," Audrey’s echo replied. "We have turned the 'Mistakes-of-the-Origin' into the 'Foundations-of-the-Future'."

It is flawed. The room went silent. The city engineer, a guy named Steve, stood up, turning red. Flawed? Steve sputtered. I wrote that report! You assumed a linear rate of erosion for the granite base, Cale said, walking to the aisle. Granite does not erode linearly. It is metamorphic. Based on the salinity of the spray and the wind shear... the foundation has at least another fifty years of integrity. The cracks are superficial. Thermal expansion, not structural failure.

she says as she stretches a little. “It’s the best morning” I reply. I know how cheesy that was but I also don’t care. “Um, why can’t Lore feel Atari? Is she mad?” I ask bracing for the answer. I could not prepare for what she tells me “No it’s not that.” Nova says looking awkward “I haven’t been able to sense her since the rejection. It’s what I have been working on since I went back to the Kingdom. We believe there is a psychological condition that effects wolves when they have been rejected or had other psychological trauma that weakens their bond to each other. I’ve been studying the phenomenon. I’m actually at university now working on a way to fix it for all wolves that have this affli

I shrug. “Okay, I like her.” she points to me and looks at Rhea. “I’m Veronica by the way. Veronica Ryan. Grade B.” “Grade?” I raise a brow, confused. “A Grade basically tells how dangerous a person is. And before you ask, the difference between A’s and B’s is that A’s have committed murder.” “But mine is asterisked?” “It’s never been given before but I’m guessing it means numerous counts of murder.” Yeah. That makes sense.
