Claire had a driver but Ellyse still wanted to fetch her from school every lunch since she felt that it should still be her obligation to be present in her life as much as possible. After that, Ellyse went home for the very first time in a while. She felt so much better the moment she stepped inside. The first thing she did was to clean everything. And then she took a long and well deserved bath. Afterwards, she checked her phone and saw a new email sent to her. From hushmagazine: Dear Ms. Kennedy, I hope you’re doing well. I’m reaching out on behalf of Hush Magazine. We would love to feature you in our upcoming issue, especially highlighting your architectural work on the Sol Hera Pavilion.

If anything, it had widened. Where books had once been stacked spine‑out in a solid column, there was now a jagged, gaping passage. Pages slithered over its edges, adhering and tearing and re‑adhering as if the world couldn’t decide whether to close the wound or line it. They clung to the inside of the rift, overlapping layers, forming a crude tunnel that slanted down through the Librarian’s ruined back into… somewhere else. It felt wrong in a different way than in the ink.

When my shift ended, I found myself walking toward the corner table where Kael sat, his laptop closed now, a book in his hands. I stopped short when I saw the cover. ‘Knot We Cannot Untie.’ That was the book he was holding. I can't believe that Kael would be reading one of Linda Lively’s books. “You read… this?” I said, the surprise evidently in my voice. Kael looked up, one brow raised. “Why? You think I only read racing magazines and bank statements?” I gave a small laugh. “Chill bro. It’s just… not what I was expecting ”

“As long as you remember why you came back.” I reached for the new bundle and unwrapped it, my excitement returning. The familiar scent of old parchment filled the air as I flipped through the worn pages. But my smile disappeared when I spotted something strange. “Ingrid…” I murmured, holding one of the books up. “This one’s also damaged again.” She leaned over, and her brows furrowed. “What?” Pages were missing yet again!. Not torn from the spine like yesterday's own, but sliced out cleanly. Precise. Intentional.

Very you. I laughed. Zara: I’ll let you know once I survive the trauma of trying on dresses. A beat later: Liam: I can help. I promise not to mock you too much. Unless you wear ruffles.

Raff breathes as everyone surges forward to explore the new space. “This is it,” Robert says, holding up a thick ancient-looking book. The cover is made of what looks like delicate leather but there are no markings on the cover to indicate what it is. Deacon takes the book from him and opens it with care. The script is handwritten and as he flicks through the pages it is clear to see that many different people have written in this book, using different writing styles and tools. “What about the branding kit? Do you see it?” Luke asks, drawing everyone’s attention back to the task.

Frank took the book that Sonya submitted to him from his desk. “This book, I left three chapters unread!” Sonya pointed at one book and shrugged. “Not so exciting!” She smirked. Frank smiled and gave her a key to a locker to keep her knitted bag while she was looking for some books in the library. “Thanks!” Sonya grabbed the key. Sonya was walking along the bookshelves as she got interested in learning some herbs and herbal medicine with some ancient knowledge of healing methods. She was reaching for a book that was put on the top row of the book itself. She jumped to reach it and almost slipped to fall, fortunately, there was a hand holding her back and thwarted her from falling.
