He eyed the food with irritation and sarcastically mocked us for wasting it. At the end of the video, Quentin slammed his bedroom door, and Ruby stared at the spread, bursting into tears in disappointment. I sighed and turned off the camcorder. After that, I shoved the camcorder under the bed and never touched it again. "No… no…" Quentin gripped the camcorder to his chest, his voice thick with emotion, like he was trying to hold onto something. "Sharon… please come back. Please forgive me, okay? She wasn’t the type to disagree with him publicly, but I knew that she hated free use. I think it just bothered her seeing the way he started looking at me.

I stared at it for a second too long. Dangerous. “Delete that.” “No.” “Delete it.” “It’s for your CV.” Shaw looked horrified. “That better not be my resume picture.” “It’s authentic.” “I look angry.” “You always looked angry.” “I look unemployed.” “That’s because you were unemployed.” He threw a piece of torn paper at my head. I dodged it effortlessly. “This is abuse,” I informed him. “This is self-defense.” I laughed again while scrolling through the photo. God. He really was ridiculously attractive when he was annoyed.

] One crude joke after another flooded the chat. Then one of Yvonne's friends suddenly freaked out. [You idiots are drunk! Wrong group! Jared's in here too! Delete those messages!] The chat instantly turned into chaos, but most of the messages were already stuck there. Someone thought it was funny and replied: [So what if he sees them? You think he'd actually say anything?] I didn't react. I got up and made myself something to eat. Right after my last bite, the front door swung open.

They all looked expectantly at me as I thought about it. "Fine," I said finally. "Tell everyone that for today, they are free to shift."
