I inquired, my eyes searching his, for an earnest response. His answer was beyond my expectations, a poetic declaration that left me stunned. "I would bow down to only you, become the moon if you desire it, and move the earth if it meant fulfilling your wishes, so obviously love you more than you can imagine," he confessed, his words weaving a romantic spell that enveloped the room.

I had to be a lot more creative than sincere. “What?” he asked. I leaned in and whispered in his ear. “Tell her that I love her.” He smiled, then, he waited like he had to juggle my words in his mind, and like a silly hyena, he laughed with his hand on his chest. “You’ve always told her that crap.” He leaned in on me. “Come on, I’ll recite one of my love poems to her and tell her you wrote them yourself.” I smiled like his odd poems mattered. Father once asked him to shove his poems up his ass when he demanded they turn off the loud music and let him recite his poems.

I ask eagerly " no way I can never allow my best friend to date such a person. you will die of boredom" I tease him " I think someone is jealous" he tease me "Jealous of who, no matter what you will still run to me. we are met to be best friend for ever" I shrugged "who is deceiving you, thou we are best friend forever. I can't forget when you were little and you do cry over every little things. Remember the day your cookies fell down" I continue teasing him

In moments like these, I wonder if he ever even would like me in a different way other than friendship and in moments like these, I realize that maybe it'll never happen and that's when I take everything while I still can before with a heart aching thought I think of the lucky girl he will make forever his one day. "I made you cup cakes", I reply softly. He pulls away from me and grins at me his childish grin that makes him look a lot younger and just like that we're back to normal. Or our version of normal, you could say.
