“Stay out of this, Joy.” Joy stood up. Unbothered. “I would,” she said lightly. “But this is my business.” Veronica frowned. “What do you mean?” Joy stepped closer. Her gaze steady. “Because I’m the only one here who understands what happens next.” Silence. Veronica’s breathing quickened. “Then say it,” she challenged. “What happens next?” Joy smiled slightly. “You speak,” she said. She glanced at Christiana. “She falls.” Then she looked back at Veronica.

She sniffled and leaned dramatically into Blake's arms like the victim in a tragedy. To anyone watching, it looked like I was the villain.
