“Okay, you have had enough. You should leave.” “I said quality control.” Her father argues. “My daughter has a reputation and I need to protect it.” “I am a big girl now. I can protect everything on my own.” She pushes him toward the door. Peter grabs her cheek and gives Cassie a kiss on the forehead. “Grow up as much as you can, you’ll always be my little princess.” After her father leaves the kitchen, Cassie turns back to being busy with the chicken wings and fries more of them. Half an hour later, she goes to the living room with a big bowl of caramel popcorn and finds her father with aunt Gilda’s husband. He is a giant man with a kind heart and Cassie’s favorite male neighbor. Her favori

I fight back the tears that want to fall, so my makeup doesn't get ruined. "Thank you Daddy," I say quietly calling him the name I used to. "You are more than welcome Kiddo," Dad grunts out while squeezing the life out of me. We stay like that for a few moments before I finally release him. I love my father so much. The past two years have been so good for him. Mr.Ryan is like his best friend. He loves his job and he actually started seeing someone. Carol, she is a widow as well.

"I'll take care of Maya. Even if she acts like my little sister." ‎"I'm only two months younger than you, big sister," I chuckled, shaking my head. ‎My dad looked at me, a sudden wave of sadness crossing his features. "You look so much like your mother, Maya. Every single day." "Ugh, you're such a vibe killer, Arthur," Christie groaned playfully, resting her head on Charles's shoulder. "At least Maya's mom loved her before she passed. My mom just vanished to spend my dad's money on young boytoys."

I wasn’t going to interrupt that. “So this starts with your father and the both of you might not know this because you were young at that time but your dad and Declan’s dad were friends then, as a matter of fact very good friends. Your father took a liking to him due to his dedication to his work and his family.

"Were you reborn too? I get it—you're just feeling upset, that's why you chose my dad. But you'd definitely regret it!" I kept admiring my dazzling reflection in the mirror, retorting coolly, "Regret? Why would I? And know your place—I'm your stepmother. I'll tell your dad if you keep being rude." Stumped for a moment, Dylan growled softly but threateningly, "Did you think you've won just because you're with my dad?! We'll see! Oh, and don't you forget—he's going to die in a couple of years, and he is sterile!"

Dad bowed while Mom was struggling to speak whatever she had to say. "Your Dad and I know that you're getting older, Zandy and until now you don't have a girlfriend or even a female friend," Mom began what she was going to say. My forehead furrowed even more. "Last week, we met your father's childhood friend and he has a family and a daughter. She's adorable." My eyes narrowed as I slowly understood what Mom wanted to say. "What do you mean, Mom?"

Your dad is coming? "Yeah, yeah," Eric grinned. "Dad said he wants to marry Mom." "No way! Mom is my dad's!" Justin got angry. Black-faced, he stood in front of Eric. "Don't steal my mom. Mom is Ethan" "Your dad doesn't even spend Parent's Day with you. My dad will, though. He said he will take good care of Mom and give her the best," Eric boasted about his dad is also great. He will protect me and Mom. My dad is Superman!" Justin said angrily.

Hot tears slipped free. Mom smoothed my hair. "It's okay, baby. You can cry—holding it in only makes it worse." "I don't want to," I lied, and a sob escaped anyway. Dad held me tighter and let me cry without questions, his silence a kind of shelter. Still, a thought flickered through me — if Ryatt ever crossed him, even in a nightmare, he'd be dead meat. *** It was weird that I still liked watching Cinderella. Even weirder that Dad still enjoyed it with me.

I rolled my eyes at the loud chuckle she gave and lay back on the bed. "Fuck you!" "How was your birthday? Though I'm not sure how enjoyable it could be when I'm not there." I let out a chuckle and smiled, "I did enjoy it pretty well. Adrian took me to an amusement park. "Your dad's best friend?" "Yes." "Damn, you guys must have fucked or something because there's no way he agreed to that without a bribe." I raised my middle finger to the screen and scowled. "We might have fucked once, but that's not the reason."

"Over my dead body I call you that stripper name!" Mom snorts into her wine glass. "Told you." Dad leans forward, voice dropping to that dangerous whisper he uses in hostile takeovers. "I've been speaking with an old friend. He has a grandson—brilliant man, apparently." My blood turns to ice water. "What kind of speaking?"
