The Frozen Heart
Frost shimmered along the edges of the injuries, blue white and unnatural, as if the flesh had been frozen rather than cut.
"We cannot stop the bleeding!" Elias shouted, the pack’s chronicler, his hands shaking over the wounded man. "This is not natural cold. It freezes the blood in his veins before we can close the wounds."
My Alpha’s fists clenched until his knuckles went white. I saw the muscles in his back tighten. He looked like a predator ready to strike, unable to see his enemy.
"I have to help him," he growled, his voice deeper than any human sound. "I have to burn the frost out of him."
