He smiles and looks at the icy waters. I'm sorry. The water sucks him under seventy feet, his legs are completely immobile, he thinks that his ribs are already shattered. He wrapped an arm around her waist lovingly and stared down at her with adoration. Is this what mates were supposed to be like. I eyed the space between Diesel and I. Were we supposed to be like that? Did werewolves even have the choice of their mate? Or are they just given one and told to be happy about it?

The air around him crackled. Elia sat up, heart pounding. “Magnus, talk to me.” He didn’t turn. His shoulders were shaking. And then, a low growl escaped his throat—inhuman, guttural.
