The sound of rustling pages faded, replaced by a sudden, violent rushing sound in my ears. White. Everywhere was blinding, freezing white. I wasn't sitting in a warm classroom. I was breathing in air so cold it burned my lungs . The smell of pine and wet earth overwhelmed my nostrils. I was moving, heavy and exhausted, my boots sinking deep into packed snow. There was a weight on my back. A heavy, solid weight. “Put me down, Foster,” a voice hissed in my ear. It was Ward’s voice, but it wasn't the calm, detached tone he used during lectures. It was raw. “I can walk. Put me the hell down.”

They seemed to be savoring the moment, enjoying the sight of me in distress. I struggled to break free, but his hold was relentless. I felt my vision blurring, my lungs burning. "Daniel, stop!" I tried to scream, but my voice was barely a whisper. Daniel's face twisted in anger, his eyes blazing with fury. I was trapped, helpless, and at his mercy. " Do you want a divorce that fast?" Daniel snarled, his grip on my throat tightening. "You think you can just walk out on me and I'll let you go? You're mine, and you'll do as I say."

I needed to get this rage building inside of me out of my chest. Quickly, I headed out of the underground floor with Melvin tagging along behind. ~~~ I tore through the forest furs, even as the throbbing force of its claws slammed into my skin, I ignored it aiming at the next target, and with one swift move, another was dead.

He had memorized her dreams, even walking those paths alone before she did. When she turned to the final page, she found two lines written in Jude's handwriting. "You mustn't meet someone too dazzling when you're young. Otherwise, everyone else will feel like settling. "And I refuse to settle." Callista felt her heart pound violently. "And this one," Harriet said, handing her another notebook. The title on the cover left Callista utterly stunned. "Operation: Win Her Back."

Sighing, Jean chimed in, "That woman is such a nuisance. She's like a leech; you can't shake her off!" After a brief silence, Jack piped up, "If she's dead, her stocks will belong to me." "Is that true?" Jean asked with glee. I trembled violently when I heard the suggestion. Was my husband thinking of killing me? I stood there, frozen. At that moment, a chill swept through my entire body, leaving me trembling uncontrollably. I had never imagined that the man I shared a bed with, the husband I trusted, would be planning to kill me.

I started it back in 2018 and just going back to the story reminded me how far I have come as a writer. This book nowhere close to perfect.
