She fired. What the fuck?!

Something that thrummed with life. It felt like resolve. Maybe determination. But I knew it was there somewhere. They wanted me gone. As if gone was an action word, if they said chaos was their best meal or fear their best beverage Then I'd add fire to the menu. They might order that, so I'd force it down their throat. Literally and figuratively. And while they swaddle, I will start by feeding their gateway, their access with fire. One that would reduce it to ash.

But now, with just a few words from Giara, his entire fierceness seemed to melt away. "Fine, but I'll need to add another security team for you." He held Giara awkwardly but as gently as he could, while his left hand instinctively reached for a cigar. "You forgot again!" Giara scolded, cute and sharp. "Smoking's bad for the baby." Simon clicked his tongue, tossed the cigar into a trash can, and muttered, "Okay, I'll stop." He scooped her up and headed for his car. "But you'll need to make it up to me some other way."

Wolves howled as frost sealed their paws to the stone, while the fire seared the air around them. A witch hurled witchfire straight at Selene—but the spell bent sideways as though refusing her. It shattered against the wall, scattering sparks. Selene’s voice rang out, steady, fierce, echoing through the hollow. “You will not take me.” The bond pulsed harder—so strong her knees nearly buckled. Rowan’s rage amplified her fire. Lucien’s hunger sharpened her frost. Their emotions bled into one another, feeding her power, building it into something colossal.

When it was done she was quiet for a moment. "The fire extinguisher," she said. "Yes," Elian said. "That was the right instinct," she said. "Not the window. The fire extinguisher." "I know," Elian said. "Because the right thing was to stay," she said. "Even when staying was dangerous. The instinct was right." "Yes," Elian said. She looked at Dante. "You understood that," she said. "When you saw him." "Yes," Dante said. "Immediately." She nodded once — the same nod as Elian's, the same gene, the same specific movement of someone making a decision inside themselves.

Nearly one hundred feet in the air, fire and water became allies against soldiers of the night. My limbs strained as I held them out, forcing my wall of fire to stand tall. Finn had warned me that using the element fire required a constant source of energy, that it needed to be fed to remain strong. I fed it with both my personal reserves, and what I could pull from the sun.

CHASE There’s something about fire. The way it ignites from the smallest spark, bursting into creation. The way it destroys. The way it can be contained one minute and uncontrollable the next, raging and spreading as it scorches the earth. Sometimes that’s how I feel, on the verge of cascading over a barrier into something I can’t come back from. Raging and burning until there’s nothing left but ash.

I raised my tail and let it crash down, causing a loud crash and shudder throughout the club. “Willow, is shifting!” I hear Nix say. I can’t look toward her right now. Drake grabs hold of my massive shoulders and holds on. He digs his long claws into my flesh beneath my scales and begins to emit a heat that turns into fire. It burns as hot as lava. I let my own heat radiate from me. The two elements of fire mixed and soon there's so much fire and heat around us that if anything gets close it will go up into a blaze. The fire alarm system kicks in, but the sprinklers have no effect. I barely hear Nix’s muffled screams.
